Manitoba UNIX User GroupMUUG is comprised of members from the education, government and business communities, with varying levels of UNIX experience. From its humble beginnings in 1986, the group has grown from about 15 members to over 50 today.
The group meets at 7:30 PM on the second Tuesday of every month from September to June. Meeting locations and presentation topics vary, but are always announced in advance in the monthly newsletter. Membership fees are $20 per year.
MUUG also has a few mailing lists, which are used to announce upcoming events, and allow members (and anyone interested in UNIX and Linux) to exchange information.
MUUG's operation is governed by a set of by-laws ratified by the members.
Please include your postal address if you want to receive an application form and a sample of the newsletter by mail.
Fill in the printed form and mail it to us along with your payment. Or, simply e-mail us, and provide the equivalent information; we can then add you to our mailing list, so you receive a sample newsletter and application form. Alternatively, just show up at one of our monthly meetings. (Guests are always welcome!)
MUUG also operated a Linux/System-Administration SIG (special interest group), which used to have its own monthly meetings. We now meet as part of the general monthly meetings.
MUUG has played a leading role in introducing the Internet to Winnipeg's computing community. (This began in 1992, with an online service called MONA, which then evolved into today's MUUG Online.) As a way of continuing that role, we are making several Internet information resources available, to help you learn more about what the Internet is and what it provides.
